Sebastian Baumann studied Mechanical and Process Engineering with emphases in turbomachinery and aerospace at TU Darmstadt until 2014. Up to now, he works as a research associate at the institute of flight systems and automatic control. His activities include project leads in the context of the German aviation research program. Furthermore, he is a co-author of the study „Fundamental Analysis for an Air Transport Concept by the German Government“, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
Within his doctorate, Sebastian Baumann focuses on data analyses of flight data recordings and flight operational data by the use and advancement of machine learning algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence. The main emphasis of his work is an economic technology assessment of aircraft retrofits as well as tools for the decision support and decision automation for maintenance, repair, overhaul, and airline businesses.
